Global Content Strategy For Staples

Staples is a Fortune 100 B2B company with a substantial part of its revenue coming from eCommerce. Novus Laurus analyzed, justified, designed and implemented a Global Content Management Strategy and Platform to be shared by multiple business units within Staples. This multi-year engagement included stake holder interviews, technical assessments, platform identification and technical design for the global platform.

The new platform when fully implemented will save Staples $5M each year in software licenses for antiquated and fragmented content systems and provide efficiencies and speed to market for business units. By providing internal marketing teams with insight driven agility in wielding digital content, customer acquisition and retention in both Staples B2B and B2C businesses are expected to dramatically increase.

One particular technical challenge in such a large global organisation was the requirement to integrate a central content management system with multiple eCommerce front ends. This included the integration of live customer, pricing and other data from other dedicated systems within content templates defined within the CMS but ultimately served on the web by the different eCommerce systems.
